Winter returns to Israel Monday night and will be around for at least a week, with rain through Thursday and the possibility of mixed snow and rain in Jerusalem. Temperatures will begin to plummet Monday night to the low single digits Celsius (40s F) and continue to drop every night until reaching near freezing on Thursday. The rain will spread to the northern Negev by Tuesday evening while snow falls on the Hermon.
Heavier precipitation is predicted for Wednesday until Thursday morning, bringing snow to the northern hills. After slightly warmer weather Friday and the morning of the Sabbath, another storm on its way may bring more rain, and possibly snow, next week.
