(IsraelNN.com) Prime Minister Ehud Olmert will fly to Berlin on Sunday for a three-day visit.  Olmert is expected to meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss Iran’s nuclear program.  Olmert hopes Merkel will agree that the nuclear program poses a danger despite a recent United States report indicating that Iran stopped its nuclear weapons research several years ago.  Germany has extensive economic ties with Iran, and Olmert reportedly hopes to convince German officials to use economic pressure to end Iran’s attempts to enrich uranium.

Olmert will also discuss the fate of IDF soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, who were kidnapped by Hizbullah in 2006.  German officials in Lebanon have been in contact with Israeli officials regarding the kidnapped soldiers.
