The Tel Aviv District Court will hold a hearing on Sunday morning regarding two young men from Havat Gilad in Samaria who are accused of entering Joseph’s Tomb (Kever Yosef) to pray last week without permission from the IDF. One of the two is accused of attempting to prevent a soldier from doing his duty, while the other has refused to cooperate with the secular court system.
A judge decided last week to keep both men in prison until prosecutors file an indictment. Other young men accused of entering Joseph’s Tomb were released. The court agreed to hear an appeal following a plea from the Honenu legal group.
The men who entered Joseph’s Tomb say soldiers used unnecessary violence while dragging them from the site. They also accuse the army of leaving their cars in Shechem, a charge IDF officers deny.
