Government spokesman David Baker said after Saturday night's Kassam attack, in which two brothers, eight and nineteen years old were seriously injured, that the government will not allow the current situation in Sderot to continue. “Israel will respond with determination to protect its citizens.” The Al-Aqsa Brigades of Islamic Jihad took responsibility for the attack.

MK Effie Eitam (NRP-NU) placed responsibility for the injuries in the Kassam attack Saturday night on the government. “The fact that an entire city in israel is in critical condition is testimony to the poor performance of the government and defense minister.”

On Friday night, a rocket fired at Sderot hit a house in the town, sending four people into shock. They were taken to hospital for treatment. Two other people were lightly injured in the attack and treated on the spot. Minor damage was reported in several other attacks. Altogether 40 Kassams were fired at the Negev on Friday. Angry Sderot residents took to the street after Friday night's attack blocking traffic on the main highway outside the town.
