Bemaaglei Tzedek Awarded For Social Achievments

(IsraelNN.com) The Jerusalem-based Bemaaglei Tzedek social justice organization has been awarded the annual Ernst & Young Israel Innovation in Society Award. The award salutes an Israeli organization that demonstrates entrepreneurial creativity, initiative and originality on behalf of Israeli society.

Bemaaglei Tzedek, founded in 2004, has become well known for its efforts on behalf of contract workers and with the introduction of the "Tav Chevrati"- a Social Seal which is granted to restaurants which demonstrate good employment practices.

"Today, nearly 400 restaurants across Israel have received the Seal and the organization has been credited with bringing the issue of workers’ rights to the forefront of public awareness," Asaf Banner, managing director of Bemaaglei Tzedek said. "With Ernst & Young selecting the organization for this award, it serves as a recognition that the work they do is not only being lauded by the socially concerned in Israel but by the country’s business leaders as well."
