President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran said Wednesday that his country would produce nuclear energy by 2009, and condemned Israel as a “filthy Zionist entity” that has "reached the end of the line."

Ahmadinejad made the remarks in the southern Iranian city of Bushehr as the UN Security Council considered imposing new sanctions on Iran because of its continued uranium enrichment program.
