An unknown person successfully stole an M-16 rifle from a soldier in southern Tel Aviv Wednesday.

The thief approached the soldier from behind, struck him, took his gun and a bullet clip and escaped with them.

The soldier is in Ichilov Hospital and his condition is described as "light." Security forces are searching for the thief.
