The Knesset Wednesday passed on first reading a bill requiring a bicycle path on all new or reconstructed roads. The bill was sponsored by Likud Knesset Members Gilad Erdan and Gideon Saar.

"The time has come that infrastructure for bicycles be recognized for transportation," they said. "Bike lanes should be planned just as thoroughfares and interchanges are planned."
