Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has concluded talks with Egyptian officials in Cairo and declared that he insists on full supervision of the Gaza crossing. Abbas, the leader of the Fatah party that rules in Judea and Samaria, declared that previous agreements signed with Israel stipulate that the PA has full authority at the crossing.
The rival Hamas faction, which controls the Gaza region, has asserted it will not relinquish authority at the border. Israel officially has backed the PA's position.
