European Jewish Congress President Moshe Kantor said recently that all Jews should be allowed to vote in Israel, even those who are not Israeli citizens. If Jews are allowed to make aliyah (immigrate), he argued, they should be granted “equal rights” by being allowed to vote from abroad.
Kantor made his suggestion during a meeting of the Board of Governors of the World Jewish Congress. While the future status of Jerusalem and world Jewry’s involvement in the issue was not officially discussed, many delegates reportedly spoke about the issue at length behind the scenes.
