      Egyptians Tighten Security Around Rafiah

The border town of Rafiah in which the Gaza-Egypt crossing is located remains an open floodgate for Gaza residents pouring into Egypt, but one in which they are now limited to shopping within the city limits.

Egyptian forces tightened security around the town, which straddled the border between Egypt and Gaza, trying to ensure that the Palestinian Authority Arabs who continue to cross into the country cannot infiltrate farther south.

Hamas terrorists from Gaza blew up the border fence separating the area from Egypt last week. Egyptian workers and police officers who tried to repair the fence and close the border Saturday were attacked, with a number of them seriously wounded by Gazans who continue to force their way into the country.
