Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann remarked at the weekly Sunday morning cabinet meeting today that he isn’t sure whether it is easier to deal with international pressure or Israel’s High Court of Justice.
Friedmann commented on the emergency session scheduled by the High Court of Justice in response to a petition by human rights organizations asking the court to force the government to end the blockade which halted deliveries of gasoline and other supplies into Gaza. The blockade came in response to the massive rocket attacks against Israeli communities in the western Negev that have halted all normal life for civilians there.
Gaza still receives electricity through Israel’s national grid, supplying approximately 70 percent of its power needs, as well as diesel and cooking gas. Medicines were delivered last week as well, and patients with exceptional medical needs have still been transferred through the crossings for expert care in pre-1967 Israel.
