Egyptian Forces Repair Part of Border Fence

(IsraelNN.com) Egyptian forces succeeded Sunday in managing to close part of the border fence destroyed last week by Hamas terrorists in Gaza but large areas of the border remain open to passage to and from the area by thousands of people, including many terrorists.

Attempts by Egyptian forces on Saturday to reseal the border and hold back Gazans from entering Egypt resulted in violent clashes that left a number of Egyptian police wounded, several seriously.

Some 200 meters of the Egypt-Gaza border fence at the Rafiah crossing were blown apart by Hamas, enabling tens of thousands of Gaza residents to flood into Egypt and stock up on cigarettes, gasoline, foodstuffs and other items. Crossings with Israel were sealed days earlier after massive rocket attacks on civilians in the western Negev.
