The IDF praised the conduct of two counselors at the Makor Chaim yeshiva for killing two terrorists who infiltrated into the yeshiva and began attacking students with knives. "This could have ended a lot worse," one officer in the Central Command said. The yeshiva was filled with more than 200 students.
The counselors were meeting in the yeshiva library when the two terrorists, dressed in black uniforms, burst into the room and ordered everyone to raise their hands and stand against the wall. The terrorists stabbed two students before the counselors immediately drew their personal handguns and killed the terrorists on the spot. The students are recovering from light to moderate wounds.
The terrorists entered the yeshiva by cutting a hole around the security fence, apparently disabling the alert system. Gush Etzion Regional Council chairman Shaul Etzion arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and praised the students, who showed "that Jews have no fear...of cowardly terrorists."
