MK Yaakov Litzman (UTJ) wrote to Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Eli Yishai and to Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz Wednesday, demanding that coordinated work being planned by these bodies for Saturday be cancelled.
Litzman said he has been informed that Israel Railways, as well as the Council for Public Works and Ayalon Highways intend to begin work on bridges in dozens of sites.
Litzman said the plan would cause the Sabbath to be desecrated on an unprecedented scale. He said bridges could be built from steel in a modular fashion that would make it possible to build without breaking the Sabbath.
