The Cabinet ministerial committee has advanced plans for a rail connection between Carmiel and Kiryat Shemona. The route is aimed at bringing the northern Galilee into commuting range with the western Galilee and to establish Kiryat Shemona as the commercial center of the Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights.
The project includes paving new roads and building a new neighborhood in Kiryat Shemona, located near the border with Lebanon.
