MK Michael Melchior (Labor), the head of the Knesset’s Education Committee, has called an emergency meeting for Wednesday regarding psychometric exams. Officials said Sunday that the exams, which determine students’ ability to gain acceptance to various university programs, would be postponed by two months.
Officials said the exams would be postponed because of the new university schedules that were created as a result of the senior academic staff strike in the first semester. University students will not have their usual break in February, leaving no space available for the psychometric exams, which are traditionally held on university campuses during breaks. MK Melchior said that postponing the exams would harm students, and called to find an alternative explanation.
