Kadima Knesset Member Otniel Schneller, whose committee heard testimony Monday that hinted of a total freeze in building in Greater Jerusalem as well as in Judea and Samaria, said he is convinced that the government has "no intention" to enforce such a policy. He explained that a Housing Ministry official testified that an interpretation of the policy could apply it to Gilo, French Hill, Har Homa and other areas restored to the capital after the Six-Day War in 1967.
The MK, who lives in Samaria, also told Voice of Israel government radio that the stated government freeze on building in Judea and Samaria could include "humanitarian projects," such as kindergartens and synagogues. "I am sure this is an oversight of the government, and I cannot believe the freeze includes these projects," MK Schneller added.
