The prestigious Yeshivah of Flatbush high school in New York City forbade the attendance of same-sex boyfriends of some alumni at a class reunion last month, with angry homosexual ex-students responding by creating a group called "Open Flatbush Reunions" on the widely-used networking website, Facebook.
Yeshivah of Flatbush administrators issued a statement to the American Jewish newspaper Forward, stating "All of our graduates are welcome to attend our reunion but only those involved in recognized halachic relationships [relationships in accordance with Jewish law] may register as a couple."
According to Jewish law as set forth in the Torah, homosexual relationships, particularly among men, are forbidden.
