Arun Gandhi, a grandson of Indian non-violence leader Mohandas (Mahatma) K. Gandhi, has called Israel the "biggest player" in the world's "culture of violence" in a blog post in the Washington Post, and accused Jews of "overplaying" the Holocaust.

Gandhi criticized Israel for believing "its survival can only be ensured by weapons and bombs," and said the future of the Jewish people is "bleak."

One US Jewish leader, American Jewish Congress head David Harris, responded harshly: "Let’s be clear. Israel, since its establishment by the United Nations 60 years ago, has sought to live in peace and security with all her neighbors. Israel was not created as a militaristic state, nor has it sought to dominate another people, as Gandhi argues."
