Former IDF Chief of Staff Moshe Levy was laid to rest Wednesday afternoon in his kibbutz, Beit Alfa, under the Gilboa mountains.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak eulogized Levy, who was known as "Moshe and a Half" because of his tall frame. "Moshe and a Half did his military work well and went home silently," he said. "This land, which is very sparing in expressions of gratitude and compliments, was silent and never knew how to thank him," Barak said.
Barak noted that Levy was born to a poor family but "thanks to supportive parents, a family that reached out and a loving education, Moshe and a Half towered above the rest, in the positive sense, early on in life, and not just because of his height."
