Itamar Ben-Gvir Sentenced to Community Service

(IsraelNN.com) Activist Itamar Ben-Gvir was sentenced to parole and community service on Tuesday.  Judges rejected the prosecution’s demand that Ben-Gvir be sentenced to time in prison, saying that the prosecution had not recommended jail time for those who had committed more serious crimes.

Ben-Gvir was convicted of distributing stickers calling to “expel the Arab enemy” and of holding a sign saying “Arabs Out” following a terrorist attack.  Ben-Gvir rejected the verdict, saying, “If my name was Azmi Bishara, the prosecution would never think to bring such an absurd indictment.”  Azmi Bishara, a former MK who fled the country due to allegations that he assisted Hizbullah, was a vocal supporter of several anti-Israel groups during his time in Knesset.
