Bedouin protestors clashed with Egyptian security forces in the Sinai Peninsula on Tuesday. Several Bedouin men fired an RPG at Egyptian police near the el-Arish junction, wounding one officer and a worker. The men also fired at the tires of a truck bringing goods to Israel, forcing it to stop.
Later in the day, dozens of Bedouin men blocked a road 60 kilometers south of the Rafiah crossing, preventing trucks from reaching Israel. The events appear to be connected to ongoing tensions between Bedouin tribes and Egyptian authorities, which were exacerbated recently by the arrest of two members of the Tarbin tribe.
