Former IDF Chief of Staff Moshe Levy died Tuesday at the age of 71.
The IDF’s 12th Chief of Staff, Levy was the first to have begun his military career in the Israel Defense Forces as opposed to the various defense groups operating prior to Israel’s statehood.
He was born in Tel Aviv to Jewish immigrants from Iraq and joined the IDF in 1954. He served in both the Paratroopers and Golani brigades.
