Websites Teach Faking Mental Illness to Avoid Army

Israeli websites are publishing a handbook teaching teenagers how to obtain exemption from army service by posing as mentally disturbed, suicidal, or depressed.

The initiator of the movement to fake mental illness in order to skip serving in the IDF is Target 21, an Israeli website dedicated to the trickery, which was named after the code "Profile 21" used to classify candidates for army service who are rendered unfit due to physical or psychological disabilities.

The guidebook recommends candidates show up to the psychological profiling with a disheveled appearance, speak in a low voice, complain of headaches, stomach aches or back pains, and to play obsessively with a watch or a necklace.
