IDF soldiers arrested a senior Fatah terrorist in Shechem on Thursday afternoon. The terrorist, who has not yet been identified, is accused of involvement in several shooting attacks in the region. Soldiers found two guns in his house.
Local Arabs said that over 20 people had been lightly wounded during IDF operations in the city. IDF officials said that soldiers had used rubber bullets during clashes with groups of young men.
Officials in the Palestinian Authority, which is currently run by Fatah, expressed anger following the operation. Officials accused Israel of undermining PA forces in the city.
