Labor Party Chairman Ehud Barak said Thursday that the Labor Party would oppose a proposal by Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann to overhaul the country's Judges Election Committee.
Earlier this week, Friedmann proposed including law professors, members of the cabinet, Knesset and the Supreme Court and a non-law academic in the selection process in order to "broaden the variety of opinions represented" by the committee.
"We will not allow anyone to hurt the Supreme Court," party chairman Barak told a meeting of Labor Party ministers in Tel Aviv.
