At a special Knesset session to address the ongoing education strike, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert accused those who thought a single session or a single strike might solve the crisis in Israel's education system, further deriding those MKs who petitioned for the meeting, then failed to attend.
The prime minister singled out hareidi MK Yakov Litzman of the United Torah Judaism party, saying "If you (hareidim) were allowed to run the hareidi education system, you would destroy it, because you would only hurt one another… only a secular Jew can manage hareidi education with any semblance of integrity."
