Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Dan Gillerman issued a letter to the newly instated Libyan UN Security Council President Giadalla Ettalhi, slamming the day-old leader's disregard for the status of Israeli kidnapped soldiers at a Wednesday meeting entitled 'Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question."
Though the meeting briefly addressed the state of Gilad Shalit, mentioning that he is spending his nineteenth month in Muslim captivity in Gaza, Gillerman wrote that the Council neglected to mention that the captive Jewish soldier has been denied contact with the outside world, even from humanitarian and medical organizations. Gillerman further railed Ettalhi for the briefings failure to mention captives Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev at all.
Gillerman requested that Ettalhi share the letter with the remainder of the Security Council. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has also received a copy.
