Record Number of Births in Tzfat Hospital

A record number of women gave birth in the Ziv hospital in Tzfat in 2007.  2,941 women gave birth in the hospital in 2007, beating the previous record, set in 1999, by 500 births.

Hospital director Doctor Oscar Embon said the record number of births could be connected to the Second Lebanon War the year before.  “It is likely that war influences the desire for life and continuity, and every case of birth and new life is the most exciting experience that exists,” he said.  The staff is excited by every birth, he said.
