The cost of housing in Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria increased dramatically in 2007, according to an apartment price guide published by Levy Yitzchak on Monday in Yediot Acharonot.   The price of a five-bedroom apartment in Ariel has increased from $125,000 to $145,000, while the price of a five-bedroom apartment in Maaleh Adumim rose from $215,000 to $240,000.  In the town of Karnei Shomron, the price of a seven-bedroom cottage rose from $120,000 to $130,000.

Contractors complained that despite the high demand for housing in the area, the government would not allow them to continue building.  One said he had sold 341 houses that his company built in Ariel, but was not allowed to build more.
