Minister Ami Ayalon has compiled a list of three demands which he wants Labor Chairman Ehud Barak to present to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as conditions for the party's continued partnership in the governing coalition.
According to Ynet, Ayalon's conditions include a freeze on settlements, advancement of an eviction-compensation law for Judea and Samaria, and an increase in the deficit base in the national budget, from 1.7% to 2.5%, as proposed by MK Avishai Braverman.
Kadima MK Yoel Hasson did not like the idea of being presented with such an ultimatum. "It is in the national and political interest of the Labor party to stay in the government, and it is too bad that it keeps on involving itself in empty threats and superfluous demands as a condition for staying," Hasson said.
