Barak, Mubarak Meeting to Focus on Smuggling, Shalit Reported: 10:20 AM - Dec/26/07
(IsraelNN.com) A meeting Wednesday between Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on the issue of smugglers crossing the border between the two countries is expected to be tense. Egyptian Intelligence Minister Omar Suleiman and Israel Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai will join Barak and Mubarak for the meeting. The Defense Minister is expected to produce proof that Egyptian soldiers are helping smugglers infiltrate into Gaza. The talks are also expected to include a discussion of terms for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas terrorists in Gaza, and a prisoner swap deal Egypt is trying to arrange for the release of kidnapped IDF Cpl.
