28-year-old Sasson was at the airport on Tuesday to greet 40 new Jewish immigrants from Iran. Among the immigrants was his sister, who he had not seen for 15 years.
Sasson arrived in Israel at the age of 13 in 1992, and his younger brother arrived five years later at the age of 15. The two stayed in touch with their family by phone, as travel between Iran and Israel was not possible. Sasson’s parents were unable to attend his wedding, but heard it over the phone.
The two brothers expressed joy on Tuesday upon seeing their younger sister, now 21 years old, and expressed hope that their parents would soon arrive in Israel as well. The Jewish Agency said Tuesday that its goal is to bring Iran’s entire Jewish population to Israel.
