Thirty Jewish families, the children of Yemenite immigrants, living for generations in the Kfar Shalem neighborhood of Tel Aviv were evicted Tuesday morning after the Supreme Court ruled the companies who bought the land their parents were settled on from a British landowner could evict them.
"In 1949 we were settled here by the Jewish Agency," David, one of the residents, told Army Radio. "It became clear that some of the land belonged to private entities and now, the Tel Aviv municipality has decided to evict us without compensation."
"They sent Border Police and Yassam riot police. They broke down the door of our home and behaved with violence. The dogs and cats were given new homes by the veterinary services. The 30 families are being thrown into the street."
