Far-left-wing Peace Now Secretary-General Yariv Oppenheimer is clamoring for the army to court-martial Judea Brigade Rabbi, Captain Eliyahu Peretz, who affixed a mezuzah to the wall at the entrance to the Casbah in Hevron this week, as well as the officers and soldiers who participated in the brief ceremony with Chabad-Lubavitcher Chassidim and members of the Hevron Jewish community.

Oppenheimer wrote, in a letter to IDF Central Command's Major-General Gadi Shamni, "The army must immediately halt joint activities with the settlers in Hevron, most of who belong to Chabad, on all patently defense-related issues."

Following Peace Now's fierce protest, the mezuzah was removed and the IDF opened an investigation into the issue, reported Ynet.
