(IsraelNN.com) Elite anti-terrorist police units have been put in place in Lod to try and stem the violence against Jews there, Arutz 7 has learned.

Asked for his reaction to the reports of attacks on observant Jews in Lod's Ramat Eshkol neighborhood, Police Central Region spokesman Shlomi Sagi said that the police have not received any formal complaint about these attacks. He said 50 additional policemen were assigned to Lod in recent weeks and that Border Guard, Yasam and mounted police are stationed there, as are traffic police.

When pressed, Sagi admitted that the Jewish-Arab tension in Lod is a well-known problem and said police beefed up the patrols in Ramat Eshkol after the media reports on the subject and have seen no disturbance of the peace since.
