Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni met with US security envoy to the Middle East, General James Jones during his 24-hour whirlwind visit to Israel.
On his first official visit to the Jewish State, General Jones also met with Defense Minister Ehud Barak, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
The Foreign Minister discussed with the American envoy various possibilities of how to establish a new Palestinian Authority state without compromising Israel's security. General Jones was assigned by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to supervise implementation of the American Roadmap peace plan by Israel and the PA.
