Mofaz Bid to Allow 15-Hour Driving Days Shot Down

The Knesset Economics Committee rejected a proposal by Transportation Minister Sha'ul Mofaz to increase the maximum driving hours of truck and bus drivers from 12 to 15 hours a day.

Mofaz claimed that his proposal was backed by four sleep experts who said that the extended driving time would not harm safety.

Economics Committee chairman MK Gilad Erdan (Likud) rejected the ammendment and told Mofaz to bring the experts to the next meeting of the committee to explain their claims.
