Cellcom, Orange and Pelephone, Israel's three major cellular carriers, were served with a class action lawsuit Monday, according to CNN Money in the District Court of Tel Aviv. The plaintiffs say they live next to cellular towers erected in violation of the law, creating environmental hazards.
The suit demand that the defendants compensate the public for damages in addition to depreciation of property and/or health related damages, which are excluded from the purported class action. It also called for demolishing existing illegal cellular structures and a comittment to refrain from unlawfully building new ones.
If the lawsuit is certified as a class action it is estimated by the plaintiffs to be 1,000,000,000 shekels.
