MK Zahava Gal-On (Meretz) slammed Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann on Monday for his proposal to limit the type of cases that can be brought before the Supreme Court. Friedmann is trying to “grind the court system to dust,” she said, adding that limiting the Supreme Court’s power would lead to human rights violations.
Gal-On called on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to “return the justice minister to academia, where he was more successful.” Gal-On made her remarks during a discussion of a proposed no-confidence motion brought by Meretz and the Arab parties due to Friedmann’s proposed changes.
