Only 600 British Jews will have immigrated to Israel (aliyah, in Hebrew) by the end of 2007, according to figures by the Jewish Agency, a drop from the 738 immigrants from the UK in 2006.

Figures for the period of January to November 2007 showed 546 former Israelis and new immigrants arrived in Israel, compared to 659 in 2006.

This year's number is expected to be 20 percent lower, although the reasons are not clear.
