Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Palestinian Authority head Salam Fayyad, and Quartet Middle East envoy Tony Blair met on Thursday. The three discussed issues related to negotiations between Israel and the PA.
Following the meeting, Fayyad told reporters that Barak had not agreed to his request to remove roadblocks and checkpoints throughout Judea and Samaria. PA officials have repeatedly pushed to remove the barriers, which they say impede economic activities. IDF officials say the barriers are crucial to Israel’s security.
