Druze religious leaders protested police questioning of Balad Knesset Member Said Naffaa at the National Fraud Unit building in Petach Tikva Thursday.
Naffaa is under investigation for his visit to Syria, an enemy nation, several months ago. The MK led a delegation of 300 Druze religious leaders to Syria on what he said was a pilgrimage to Druze holy sites and visits to family members.
Dozens of Druze sheikhs participated in the demonstration. Several said they had also participated in the trip and were asked to come in for questioning. Balad member Niad Milhem, secretary of the “Union of Free Druze”, has been arrested for un-named security offenses in connection with the trip.
