Incoming United Nations envoy Robert Serry met in Ramallah with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday.
The Netherlands official, who begins his new post in January, called for Israel and the PA to honor the American Roadmap peace plan, which calls for the PA to cease all terrorism against Israel and dismantle terrorist infrastructure within its areas. Israel is required to dismantle all Jewish communities and outposts in Judea and Samaria, expelling hundreds of thousands of Jews, in preparation for handing over the land to the PA.
While visiting Abbas at his Samaria headquarters, Perry slammed Israel's decision to go ahead with the planned construction of 307 new housing units in the southern Jerusalem neighborhood of Har Homa. The PA insists on putting the area on the negotiating table, despite its having been annexed to the capital after it was restored to the Jewish State in the 1967 Six Day War.
