Prime Minister Ehud Olmert may undergo an operation to treat prostate cancer, according to an Israel Channel 2 television report on Wednesday.  Olmert announced his diagnosis with early stage prostate cancer in October. 

The surgery will likely take place after US President George W. Bush's expected early-January visit to Israel.  During the surgery, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni will temporarily assume the prime minister's powers.
