Yaron Zelicha, who was not allowed by the government to retain his post as Accountant General, lashed out at Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Attorney General Menachem Mazuz, the State Prosecutor and the media Wednesday. Zelicha last year exposed the suspicion of criminal violations by the Prime Minister concerning the government's tender of its shares of Bank Leumi when he was Finance Minister.
He called the Olmert administration the most corrupt government Israel has known and charged the State Prosecutor and the Attorney General with trying to fool the public. Zelicha also took aim at the media for its "covenant" with the political establishment.
He warned that although he no longer is in office, there are many others who are trying to fight corruption. "We are in the majority," he declared, and the day will come when the truth will be known.
