The Labor party will not ditch the primary system for selecting its Knesset list, but the chairman will be allotted two seats to fill as he sees fit, in the first 20 slots.

According to Minister Shalom Simchon, head of the party's Permanent Committee, the party convention will be canceled and the central committee will shrink in size.

New members will undergo a 14 month initiation period and the legal bodies will be unified. The chairman will be elected for four years.
