Supreme Court: Allow Treatment for Enemy

The Supreme Court said Thursday that the state should reconsider a policy forbidding Gaza Arabs considered dangerous enemies by the security services to enter Israel for treatment.  Israel should allow all Gaza Arabs to enter Israel or travel through Israel to Jordan for treatment, the court said, even those who are dangerous.

While most Gaza Arabs are accepted for treatment, approximately 10 have currently been told that they must remain in Gaza.  The Supreme Court ruled that the state has one week to explain why the 10 cannot leave Gaza.  The court also rejected the state’s division of cases into life-or-death situations and those considered an issue of “quality of life.”
