Finance Ministry officials submitted their proposal for an agreement to end the teachers’ strike to the National Labor Court on Thursday. The court became involved in the issue after negotiations between the ministry and the Secondary School Teachers Association broke down earlier in the week.
According to the proposal, teachers would agree to work three additional hours every week teaching small groups of students. Teachers’ attendance at work would be recorded. In exchange, the teachers would receive an 8.5 percent raise. Teachers have argued that the ministry must also agree to reduce class size.
